La Prudencia Duroc pigs are a free range breed of pigs living in Extremadura together with the iberico pigs and feeding on natural cereals only.
Duroc pigs were developed in the USA, but more recently the Duroc breed has become very popular in Europe, especially in Spain. The main reason is because it’s meat of excellent quality characterized by its fat infiltration. Leaner comparing with the iberico meat but very tender because of the high infiltration of fat. Duroc are red pigs with dropping ears with a very similar structure and complexity to the iberico pigs.
