Rhug organic beef is sourced from Rhug's national award winning Aberdeen Angus herd, located on their coastal farm near Caernarfon. The calves are weaned at ten months of age, and then transferred to their main farm at Rhug for finishing. The breed is renowned for its quality and flavour due to high level of marbling within the muscle. Although primarily grass fed, Rhug does supplement the cattle at the finishing stage on their own home grown cereals. After slaughter, in the local abattoir on the edge of the estate, the primals are dry aged for 35 days and butchered in Rhug's own cutting plant, packed and despatched.
